Common spoke to students at Wheeless Road Elementary School in Augusta Georgia this week. He encouraged the children to believe in themselves, work hard and stay in school and also encouraged them to work hard and achieve their dreams, mentioning President-Elect Obama as a good example to follow.
“Our new president is really a person who came from a place where they told him he couldn’t be something, in a country where no one ever thought that we would see a black president, but now that we have a black president we understand that black people, white people, Asian people, Native Americans, Latinos, no matter what color you are, we all are one,” he said. “Whatever you want to be you can be in this world. The demonstrators marched to the White House and called on Obama to help people living with HIV and AIDS gain access to affordable housing, Medicare and Medicaid, and to increase funding for needle exchange and other prevention programs.

Keri Hilson was on BET’s 106 & Park today to premiere her Erik White-directed new video, “Turnin’ Me On,” featuring Lil’ Wayne. This is the second single from Keri’s album, In A Perfect World… which has hit a couple of bumps in the road.
Keri seemed confident that the album will release at the top of ‘09. She also revealed that she has been in the studio recording new tracks for the album, because a few tracks have already leaked.

Rihanna smiles with Madonna at the dinner reception for the launch of Gucci’s Tattoo Heart Collection benefiting UNICEF on Wednesday night. The young singer is featured in the Gucci campaigns this season for the collection and will appear in a special e-film for the label debuting online next month.
